Man shares hidden oven feature so you can take the door off to clean it properly

Cleaning your oven is a chore that no one wants to tackle, especially since it’s near on impossible to get into all of the hard to reach places with the oven door in the way.

But now a man has shared a hidden feature that will let you take the door clean off.

Dougie revealed how easy it is to remove the glass with a simple hack on his TikTok where he’s known as @dougiesdinners.

He took part in a popular trend on the app, where people share the life hacks that “you randomly saw one day that is now an unconscious standard practise in your life” – and viewers rushed to their ovens to see if they had the feature.

In a clip that has been viewed more than 2.3 million times on the social media platform, Dougie can be seen opening his oven before zooming in on the hinges at either side.

He then lifts a piece of the metal on both hinges, which allows him to disconnect the entire door in seconds.

Since being posted, the video has received more than 160,000 likes and 1,660 comments from impressed viewers.

One person said: “THANK YOU! AFTER 9 YEARS, IT’S CLEEEEAAAANN!”

Another said: “I just walked over to my oven and it works! Excuse me while I spend the day cleaning it.”

“One hour later and my oven is real clean for the first time in 5 years. Why [has] nobody informed me about this?!” wrote a third.

But a few people were too scared to try it out themselves just in case they couldn’t get the door back on.

So, Dougie created another video explaining how it was done.

He explained that the door slides right back into place and that all you need to do to push the clasps down is to use something long and thin – he looks to be using a wooden skewer.

However, a couple of viewers were disappointed to see that their oven didn’t have the handy feature as one said: “Runs to the oven to check – mine doesn’t budge! I now have black thumbs trying to find the release button.”
